Gary is a highly respected software and computer technology specialist, who handles a diverse portfolio of cases covering technologies ranging from electrical and electronic engineering, telecommunications, signal and image processing, semiconductor technology and measurement technology to medical systems and devices. He has a wealth of experience in drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications, in handling oppositions and appeals before the European Patent Office and in advising on the infringement and validity of UK patents.
One of Gary’s key offerings is the provision of “in-house” levels of service to the UK and European R&D centres of global businesses, a role that he has played or coordinated on many occasions. He also represents clients, ranging from start-ups, Universities and SMEs to global businesses, before the UK and European Patent Offices, advises them on their patent strategies and co-ordinates patent portfolios throughout the world.
Gary regularly advises clients on the contentious and ever developing area of patentability, in both the UK and European forums, of software and computer-implemented inventions, and inventions in other areas said to be excluded from patentability. Gary is pleased to be a member of the Association Internationale pour la Protection de la Propriété Intellectuelle.
MoreGary graduated from the University of Leicester, where he was awarded a PhD for research concerning simulation and analysis in electromyography, which included the application of Chaos Theory and Neural Networks to the problem of decomposing the clinical electromyogram.
Gary enjoys the outdoors, especially cross-country mountain biking, and cultivating plants.
