Roger Lush

Roger read Law with European Legal Studies at the University of Durham, including a year at the Rijksuniversitat Groningen in the Netherlands. He graduated with a first class degree in 2002 and subsequently joined Carpmaels & Ransford. Roger qualified by examination as a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in 2007.
Roger’s day-to-day practice involves representing clients before the UK Intellectual Property Office, the Community Trade Mark Office and the World Intellectual Property Office. Roger has broad experience of trade mark prosecution, opposition and cancellation proceedings. Opposition proceedings, in particular, frequently entail Roger negotiating with adverse parties on behalf of clients. The aim of such negotiations is to achieve settlements that protect the client’s current and future legal and commercial position, whilst simultaneously avoiding the need to follow through with potentially costly opposition proceedings.
Other regular elements of Roger’s practice include clearance searching, enforcement and maintaining trade mark portfolios, including advising on transactional matters such as assignments and licences. Roger also has extensive experience of liaising with overseas attorneys to obtain, maintain, and protect his client’s rights in foreign jurisdictions.
MoreRoger looks after a wide range of clients ranging from well-established multinational businesses to start-up companies to individuals. Those clients encompass a variety of business sectors, including vehicle glass repair and replacement, pharmaceuticals/healthcare, consumer electronics, fashion, construction/DIY and food to name but a few.
Roger is a sports enthusiast, with a particular fondness for cricket.
