Keith Howick

B.A. (Hons.) (Engineering Science), MA, Chartered Patent Attorney, European Patent Attorney, Registered Trade Mark Attorney, European Trade Mark Attorney, Member of the Institute of Trademark Attorneys, ECTA.

Keith is our senior partner and one of the partners responsible for trade marks, but also has an extensive practice in drafting and prosecuting UK and European patent applications relating to engineering subject-matter. He is highly experienced in appearing before the Trade Marks Registrar and Tribunal and in conducting trade mark oppositions and litigation. He has a large case load before the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market and is engaged in both protection and enforcement of registered and unregistered designs and copyright.

Keith has a great deal of experience of negotiating settlements and is always keen to explore commercially beneficial solutions to apparently intractable disputes. He was on the Board of Directors of INTA from 2003 to 2005, and has chaired various INTA committees. He currently serves on the INTA Design Rights Subcommittee, where he leads a project on the impact in different jurisdictions of trademark protection of expired patents and design registrations. He is a member of the Trade Marks Committee of CIPA.

Keith has been a keen sportsman, and continues to play hockey and cricket, alongside a little golf between time with his family and his duties as a church warden.
