The leading employers' programme for ensuring LGBT inclusion in the workplace

We are delighted to announce that Carpmaels & Ransford has joined Stonewall, Europe’s largest lesbian, gay, bi and trans (LGBT) charity, as a member of their Diversity Champions programme. The programme is the leading employers’ programme for ensuring the inclusion of LGBT staff in the workplace.

As part of the programme, we will be working with Stonewall to ensure inclusivity is embedded into every aspect of how we operate as a firm.  We will also be supported to join the Workplace Equality Index which will enable us to benchmark our progress in ensuring a LGBT inclusive workplace.

The programme will also inform our recruitment strategy. We recognise that diversity of thought is vital to our business, enabling us to approach challenges differently and offer our clients creative and original solutions. By advertising vacancies on the Stonewall Proud Employers website, we hope to attract and recruit diverse LGBT talent.

Camilla Balleny, Head of Carpmaels & Ransford’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Group, comments:

“We are very pleased to announce our recent agreement to work with Stonewall. As a firm we are working hard to create a workplace where everyone feels supported to fulfil their potential whilst being true to themselves. The firm has grown substantially in recent years and this work and other projects like it are critical to ensure that we continue to cultivate an inclusive environment. As our work in this area continues, the ability to track our progress against the Stonewall indexes will be invaluable.”

The firm is also represented on the committee of IP Out, the IP Inclusive Community for LGBT+ people and allies, and throughout June we have again been marking Pride month. As part of this we have organised internal talks and promoted virtual events and resources on a range of topics, from LGBT+ history in the UK to the experiences of BAME LGBT+ people.
