Community Spirit
Our long association with Holborn inspires us to give back to the community we call home
Giving back
Carpmaels & Ransford has been located in and around Holborn since the 1830s when Moses Poole and William Carpmael established a firm of patent agents at 4 Old Square, Lincoln’s Inn

Since then the firm has occupied offices at 24 Southampton Buildings, 43 Bloomsbury Square and, since 2010, One Southampton Row.

Not surprisingly, this long association with Holborn inspires a sense of belonging and concern for the community and, for several years now, we have been in partnership with Holborn Community Association (HCA). This provides opportunities to get involved in local initiatives, especially those involving the development of young people.

It’s more than corporate box ticking. It’s an expression of the family values of the firm and our commitment to learning and helping people be the best that they can be.

Maths Booster Club
Maths Booster Club aims to increase the confidence and maths skills of Year 5 and 6 school children before they move on to secondary school

Over 50 Carpmaels & Ransford employees, from our managing partner through to young attorneys and business support professionals, are involved in the Maths Booster Club.

“Our volunteers enjoy the challenges of working with these children and finding fun ways to boost their confidence in maths. The engagement from children and parents has been excellent.” Jennie Cox, Senior Associate

Putting our energy to good use
Our people have plenty of energy and like nothing better than to get involved in an extreme sports event, all the better if it raises money for charity

Some recent sporting events we have participated in include the 3 Peaks Challenge, the Standard Chartered Great City Race, the London Marathon, Le Cure de France bike race, Ride London–Surrey and the London Legal Walk.

Doing things right
Whether it’s recycling batteries and paper or choosing Fair Trade tea and coffee, we are determined to pursue a sustainable workplace

We recently installed bee hives on our balcony and a bee club is being formed. With 30,000
bees hard at work, Carpmaels & Ransford truly is a hive of activity.

We also recently joined IP Inclusive, a self-regulating group of intellectual property firms
and businesses who are championing greater
diversity within our industry.
