Carpmaels & Ransford promotes two new partners

The firm is delighted to announce the promotion of David Holland and Paul Bettridge to the partnership of the firm. Both David and Paul began their training with Carpmaels & Ransford as technical assistants and have developed their careers here. The latest additions to the partnership follow a period of exciting growth for the firm which has seen the addition of its Dispute Resolution practice and further expansion of its soft IP capabilities in recent years.

David’s practice focuses on the life sciences sector, in particular managing interrelated oppositions and appeals at the EPO to protect small molecules and complex biologics. He also has particular expertise in Supplementary Protection Certificates (SPCs), handling many pan-European SPC families, including attending SPC hearings in Germany and the Netherlands.

Paul’s practice spans a wide range of engineering disciplines, but has a particular focus on the healthcare sector for clients ranging from innovator SMEs to multinational healthcare companies.  He often works in close collaboration with the life sciences group on cross-over technologies, and handles a significant opposition and global prosecution case load for surgical devices and drug delivery products to name a few.

Speaking about the latest developments Richard Jackson, Managing Partner, said: “We are delighted to welcome David and Paul into the partnership. Both have contributed a great deal to the firm throughout their time with us so far. It is always a real pleasure to see those who began their careers with us as technical assistants develop to become such successful and able attorneys.”
