Carpmaels & Ransford is delighted to offer a two-week summer intern programme

Internships and other work experience in the patent profession are notoriously difficult to obtain and therefore this is a rare opportunity to experience first-hand working within one of Europe’s leading firms of patent attorneys.

Our programme takes place at our offices in Central London. The two-week programme is designed to accelerate the participants’ understanding of the profession and give an insight into working life at the firm.

Our structured programme includes seminars, case studies, work shadowing and involvement in client meetings and active cases. There is also the opportunity to see the social side of the firm, engaging with all members of the team from partners to trainees.

Interns are paid for the duration and receive a contribution towards travel expenses, although interns are responsible for their own accommodation.

Who should apply?
Applicants should have an outstanding academic record

Applicants will have 360 UCAS points and will have achieved (or be on course for) a minimum of a 2:1 degree, ideally in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry, molecular biology, pharmacology, material science, physics, electronics, engineering or computer science.

Applicants must be available for the duration of the internship.

Priority will be given to applicants who are expecting to complete their academic studies or research within the academic year following the intern programme.

How to apply
The online application process opens in January each year

Applications must be made via the online application form (usually by the end of April) and will require a copy of your CV and cover letter (of no more than one page) explaining why you should be considered for an internship. Short interviews via Skype will be scheduled during May.

The number of internships we are able to offer is limited. Failure to be selected for an internship should not discourage applicants from applying for a graduate position or other future events.

The deadline for the 2018 internship has passed. An online application form for our 2019 intern programme will be available from January 2019.

If you require further information about the application process or have any other queries, please contact a member of our Human Resources team.
