Anais Cassaignau

Anaïs joined the Life Sciences group at Carpmaels & Ransford in 2021. Her practice spans a broad range of technologies including therapeutic antibodies and immune therapies, nucleic-acid technologies and diagnostics, with a particular interest in crossover areas including bioinformatics, artificial intelligence and synthetic biology. She has experience in patent drafting, prosecution and portfolio strategy both in Europe and globally, and assists in a number of EPO oppositions.

Before joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Anaïs obtained a first-class degree in Biochemistry from University College London. She subsequently completed a PhD and postdoctoral research in Structural and Molecular Biology at UCL, where she investigated how proteins acquire their three-dimensional structure during synthesis. Her research was published in leading scientific journals, including Nature, Nature Structural & Molecular Biology and Nature Chemistry, and contributed to the design of novel therapeutic approaches to disease. During her postdoctoral research, Anaïs was a committee member of the UCL Therapeutics Innovation Network; she co-organised three international conferences in her field and mentored several undergraduate and PhD students.

Outside the office, Anaïs can often be found swimming at the lido or singing in a local choir.
