Anna Kinsella

Technical Assistant

Anna joined Carpmaels & Ransford as a Trainee Patent Attorney in 2021. Before joining the firm, she graduated from the University of Bath with a first-class MChem (hons) in Chemistry for Drug Discovery, and subsequently completed a PhD in organic chemistry. During her PhD, Anna developed several novel reagents for the modular synthesis of spirocyclic pyrrolidine scaffolds, alongside a method for synthesising these reagents on gram-scale using flow photochemistry.

As part of her undergraduate degree Anna spent a year on an industrial placement designing and synthesising novel chemical entities for the treatment of central nervous system diseases. Upon returning, she completed a final year research project on the synthesis of vitamin C analogues for assessment as potential anti-cancer compounds, for which she was awarded the Buchannan Prize. Anna also enjoyed working on multiple outreach and widening participation projects during her time at university, and alongside several prizes for outstanding academic achievement, she was awarded a Doctoral Recognition Prize for her contribution to these projects.

Away from the office Anna enjoys taking a wide variety of dance classes, creative baking, and Formula 1.
