Caroline is a European and UK qualified patent attorney, working within the firms Engineering & Tech teams. In addition to patent drafting and prosecution work, she is also experienced in defending and attacking patents in opposition proceedings at the European Patent Office. Caroline has additional expertise in registered designs and has helped clients obtain registered design protection in Europe and around the world.
Caroline works with a wide variety of technical fields, with particular expertise in medical devices, image processing, oil and gas technologies, power tools, engines, heat exchangers, and inventions in the dairy industry.
Caroline graduated with a first class honours degree in physics from University College London where she received awards for best performance in all years and the C.A.R. Tayler prize for essay and report writing.
After university, Caroline spent a year as a research assistant in The Dementia Research Centre (National Hospital for Neuroscience and Neurosurgery), analysing MRI brain scans and developing computer software to perform new analyses on the scans.
She entered the patent profession in 2006 and joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2013.
Caroline enjoys cycling, hiking and rock climbing, a hobby which she pursues both in the UK and abroad.
