Chris retired his partnership with Carpmaels & Ransford in 2010 but continues to apply his invaluable experience in biotech, chemistry and light mechanical engineering subject-matter to the firm’s work with clients. Chris’ practice was mainly before the European Patent Office, with responsibility for a large number of applications and oppositions. He has argued before numerous Opposition Divisions and Boards of Appeal, as well as the Enlarged Board of Appeal.
Chris has considerable experience in prosecuting applications and interferences in the US Patent & Trademark Office using local attorneys. He has been deeply involved in litigation in Germany and The Netherlands.
Chris is a Patent Attorney Litigator, a member of the council of CIPA, and a past President of epi. He is a member of SACEPO (Standing Advisory Committee before the European Patent Office) and of FICPI’s (the British Association of the International Federation of Intellectual Property Attorneys) Biotechnology Committee. He is also a member of the Fédération International des Conseils en Propriété Industrielle (FICPI), a member of the Union of European Practitioners in Industrial Property, and a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
