Dan Goudie
Associate

As part of the Engineering and Tech teams, Dan works with different technologies ranging from medical devices, consumer electronics, power electronics and imaging devices to financial technology and software. He has been involved at all stages of patent development, including invention mining, drafting, and patent prosecution, all the way through opposition proceedings at the EPO. Dan also has significant experience working directly with the UKIPO.
Dan has extensive technical knowledge in the electronics space, and has successfully leveraged this knowledge to assist his clients in overcoming particularly difficult objections. Dan has also developed an expertise in drafting applications, both in the software space for start-up companies and in electronics-related subject-matter. He has a particular interest in finding innovative solutions for meeting the specific needs of a start-up in the constantly changing technology space.
Dan joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2017, having worked in industry for years as a practicing electrical engineer. Through this professional experience, Dan has assisted product development, manufacturing, and quality control in the lighting control and aerospace sectors. Prior to this, Dan graduated cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Ohio State University. This academic background, in combination with experience working closely alongside different engineering teams, means that Dan is well-aware of clients’ specific needs, and has the technical expertise to support his clients through the patent process.
Outside of work, Dan can be found enjoying the theatre in the West End, cycling around London, or planning his next dinner party. He is also a committed father of an unhealthy number of potted plants, both in the office and at home.
