Delicia Clarke

Senior Associate

Delicia Clarke is a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team. Delicia is an experienced patent litigator and strategic advisor focussing on the pharma and biotech industries. She has a strong technical background, having spent several years working as a post-doctoral research neuroscientist at The Babraham Institute in Cambridge before becoming a solicitor.

Delicia has advised clients in many areas of the life sciences sector, with expertise ranging from small molecule pharmaceuticals (including litigating formulation, second medical use and dosage regimen patents) to biologics (therapeutic antibodies) to medical devices to consumer products. Delicia has experience litigating before all courts in the UK, including the UK IPO, Patents Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court. She also has experience of the UK’s Shorter Trial Scheme for patent cases, EPO patent prosecution, and litigating patent validity and infringement at the UPC.

Delicia also has a great deal of experience in patent portfolio management, coordinating global cross-border patent litigation and helping clients to develop licensing and settlement strategies, having worked on these type of projects at every stage of her legal career. Outside of the life sciences sector Delicia has worked on telecoms disputes involving SEP litigation and FRAND issues, as well as patent litigation involving the telecommunications and mechanical engineering patent.

Shortly before joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Delicia completed an in-house secondment to the Dispute Resolution team at Regeneron UK Ltd. where she worked on several high-profile parallel disputes involving multi-jurisdiction patent litigation and supplementary protection certificates (SPC) issues throughout many European, APAC and other ex-US regions. Delicia was also involved in regulatory projects on Regeneron’s pipeline medicines. Delicia has further in-house experience having spent 6 months at EE Ltd. (now part of the BT Group) where she was part of the marketing and advertising team, working on a range of corporate and commercial matters.

Delicia was ranked as a “Rising Star” in the IP Stars 2020, 2022, 2023 and 2024 Guides by Managing IP, and a “Notable Practitioner” in the IP Stars 2025 Guide by Managing IP.

Delicia is an  advocate in promoting diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives throughout the firm and alongside clients. Delicia also plays an important leadership committee role in the London Chapter of the ChIPs, a nonprofit professional organisation that advances and connects women in technology, law and policy.

Before joining Carpmaels & Ransford in 2025, Delicia trained, qualified and practised at two international firms based in London. Delicia has a degree in Physiology with Pharmacology from the University of Southampton and a doctorate in Developmental Neuroscience from the University of Cambridge (Downing College).
