Emily Fox
Technical Assistant

Emily joined the Chemistry group in 2025, having previously started in the profession at another IP firm in 2023. She also completed an internship with Carpmaels & Ransford in 2022. Emily graduated from the University of Cambridge with a BA in Natural Sciences and went on to obtain an MSc in Green Chemistry and Sustainable Industrial Technology from the University of York.
Her MSc project focussed on synthesising novel furan-based ionic monomers for use in polyester ionomers. In particular, she worked on sulfonating furan derivatives and polymerising promising monomers, with the goal of developing sustainably sourced alternatives to ionomers currently used in fuel cells and packaging.
During her undergraduate degree, she completed a research and development internship at the biorefinery company Oceanium. As part of this she worked on seaweed-derived plastics and developed FTIR analysis techniques to characterise polysaccharide mixes in seaweed feedstocks in order to make predictions regarding the properties of the resulting plastics.
Outside of the office, Emily enjoys outdoor swimming, cycling and running. She also likes to improve her French at evening classes.
