Gemma Cselko
Technical Assistant

Gemma Cselko is a recent addition to Carpmaels & Ransford, having joined as a Trainee Patent Attorney in the Engineering and Tech group in 2025. She holds a first-class master’s degree in Mechatronics and Robotics from the University of Leeds, specialising in medical devices and soft robotics.
Gemma’s degree covered a range of topics, including power electronics, medical electronics, biomechatronics, and medical robotics. At Carpmaels & Ransford, this multi-disciplinary background enables her to contribute to projects requiring an integrated approach to mechanics, electronics and computing.
During her integrated master’s, Gemma collaborated with U.S. surgeons to design an Arduino-based sensor test rig for an oxygen-efficient respiratory support system. She was a finalist for the Female Undergraduate of the Year Award (2019) and completed a 10-week internship at Rolls Royce’s Innovation Hub, where she implemented augmented reality and robotic solutions. As a UK Electronics Skills Foundation scholar (2018–2022), she undertook a year-long placement at Renesas Electronics, deepening her expertise in power management, C++, and circuit design. She also contributed to the Leeds MedTech Foundation, mentoring students and engaging in discussions on emerging medical device technologies.
Outside of the office, Gemma enjoys cycling and open-water swimming.
