Jake Beckett

Jake joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2026 as a Technical Assistant in the Chemistry team. He graduated from the University of Bristol with a first-class MSci in Chemistry and completed a year-long industrial placement with Syngenta.

As part of his final-year research project within the Cross group, Jake used computational protein design approaches to develop peptide candidates targeting the Kinesin-1 motor protein. During his year-long industrial placement at Syngenta, he developed and characterised biological crop protection formulations, while assessing tools for predicting their long-term physical stability. He presented this work at the annual SCI Young Chemist Panel Industrial Placement Symposium in 2025 and the Undergraduate Research Symposium in 2026, receiving recognition for best presentation at both events.

Outside of the office, Jake enjoys following rugby & Formula 1, as well as reading, and travelling whenever he can.
