Jessica Godden

Technical Assistant

Jessica joined Carpmaels & Ransford in September 2021 as a Trainee Patent Attorney, working across the Chemistry and Pharmaceuticals teams. She graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first class MSci in Natural Sciences, specialising in Chemistry.

Her final year research project focussed on investigating the molecular events driving the misfolding of tau protein in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease. In particular, aggregation assays were developed to probe the effect of post translational modifications on disease differentiation. This work was awarded the 2021 Dudley Williams prize for Best Biological Project. Jessica has also worked within a research group which uses fragment-based drug discovery to develop lead compounds against Mycobacterium Tuberculosis and Mycobacterium Abscessus.

Outside of work, Jessica spends the majority of her time doing sports, including cycling, rowing and badminton. She also loves to read and enjoys visiting the theatre.
