Johanna Viluma

Johanna joined the Chemistry team at Carpmaels & Ransford in 2025, after beginning her career at another IP firm in 2019. She has experience across the chemical field, particularly in pharmaceutical matters involving new chemical entities, medical uses, formulations, and crystalline forms. Her work also covers materials chemistry, including alloys, polymers, and related technologies.

Johanna’s experience encompasses drafting and prosecuting patent applications, conducting due diligence reviews, and performing freedom-to-operate and validity analyses.

Johanna holds a first-class degree in Chemistry from the University of Bristol. During her studies, she received scholarships for research projects involving protein NMR analysis and compound synthesis at the University of Auckland and the Pasteur Institute.

Outside of work, Johanna enjoys reading and long walks.
