Mike Gruber

Partner

Mike is a Partner in the Dispute Resolution team and focuses on multi-jurisdictional patent litigation. Mike has over ten years’ experience in litigating and resolving cases before the German patent and appeal courts and more recently the UPC. He often advises on matters that cross both the Atlantic and into continental Europe. His clients highlight his creativity and ability to understand and explain complex technologies.

Mike is known for being “very good and tech-savvy” and hisexpertise is regularly called upon in disputes relating to US patent law.” Legal 500, 2024. He has been recognised as an IP Star (Managing IP), and included among The Best Lawyers in Germany for Intellectual Property Law (Handelsblatt/Best Lawyers). In 2023, he was nominated by Managing IP as Practitioner of the Year in Germany.

Mike joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2025 from a leading European IP firm. Earlier in his career he worked as a student assistant at the Munich Intellectual Property Law Center (MIPLC) and interned at the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit (CAFC).

Mike is a lecturer for patent law at Technische Universität Dresden and has published articles in the field of intellectual property law and regularly gives lectures on patent and civil procedure law. He holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property (The George Washington University).
