Roshan Patel

Roshan joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2024 as a Technical Assistant in the Life Sciences team. He graduated in 2023 from Trinity College, Cambridge University, with a BA and MSci in Natural Sciences, having specialised in organic and biological chemistry. After graduating, he worked as a management consultant, building and optimising pharmaceutical companies’ pricing and market access strategies, before pivoting towards patent law.

Roshan’s MSci project was hosted by the Spring Group. He designed, synthesised, and analysed several novel azobenzene-based molecules to serve as the linker regions of antibody-drug conjugates. Particularly, these linkers were designed to cleave and release a payload when exposed to the high concentrations of glutathione found within tumour cells, aiming to improve upon the reported poor stability of disulfide-based glutathione-cleavable linkers deployed by some commercial ADCs.

Outside of his day job, Roshan works as a freelance tenor in London. He held a choral scholarship with The Choir of Trinity College, Cambridge, and has been awarded performance diplomas in the piano, clarinet, and saxophone.
