Having graduated from the University of St Andrews with first class honours in Chemistry, Sam joined the Chemistry team at Carpmaels & Ransford in 2020 as a trainee patent attorney.
Throughout his degree, Sam covered a broad scope of chemical subject matter. His final year Master’s project focused on the use of solid-state NMR techniques in the characterisation of Metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Of particular interest was the application of advanced paramagnetic NMR techniques to investigate dynamic aspects of HKUST-1, such as guest molecule adsorption and hydrolytic decomposition.
In his spare time, Sam has a passion for food and is an enthusiastic sportsman, with a keen interest in racket sports and golf.
