Sian Banks


Sian is a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team with a primary focus on patent litigation. Before joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Sian trained at a leading international law firm, gaining experience in commercial and intellectual property matters in both contentious and non-contentious contexts. Sian has a particular interest in life sciences and has worked on high profile High Court patent cases relating to medical devices and biologics (therapeutic antibodies and biosimilars).

Sian has a practical outlook and in-house experience, having spent six months on secondment to the group legal department of an international credit rating agency where she was involved in a wide range of corporate and commercial matters.

Prior to her legal training, Sian obtained a BSc in Biology from the University of Bristol, where she had particular interests in molecular biology, genetic engineering and food security.

In her spare time Sian enjoys walking, cycling, skiing and water sports, as well as any other excuse to be outdoors.
