Jennie Cox

Jennie handles a broad range of subject matter including industrial and consumer chemistry, materials and mechanical inventions. She has particular expertise in semiconductor materials and semiconductor device fabrication, laundry technology, pigments, contact lenses, catalysts, compositions for UV protection and skin care, implantable medical devices and polymer manufacture and applications, such as textiles for protective clothing, and prepregs and resin systems for the aerospace industry. Jennie’s clients value her clear strategic advice and technical insight and the way in which she works closely with them to develop their patent portfolios, whether it be by drafting and filing new patent applications or subsequently handling worldwide prosecution of their patent families. A key focus of Jennie’s work is developing strategies which contribute to the commercial success of the businesses with whom she works.

Jennie has a great deal of experience in prosecuting patent applications at the European Patent Office and at the UK Intellectual Property Office. She also handles opposition and appeal proceedings at the EPO, both defending client’s patents and opposing patents of her client’s competitors.

Before joining Carpmaels & Ransford in 1999, Jennie studied chemistry at Imperial College, London. Her PhD in surface chemistry focused on the growth of organic semiconductor materials on III-V and II-VI semiconductor substrates and their characterization using surface sensitive techniques.

Out of work, Jennie devotes much of her time to her young family but tries when time permits to continue her love of running and mountain walking.
