Henry Evans

Associate

Henry is part of the Life Sciences team at Carpmaels, with a diverse portfolio of work spanning immune-oncology, advanced single-cell sequencing technology, and pharmaceuticals. His practice focuses on EPO opposition/appeal work and supplementary protection certificates, but also includes large EPO prosecution portfolios, global portfolios, and FTO/due diligence work. Henry joined Carpmaels with commercial experience (as a technology management consultant with a global consultancy) and an extensive immunology research background (as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Harvard department of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology). He loves putting his immunology experience to use diving into the details of immune and cell-therapy cases.

Henry enjoys the technical details involved in complex cases and relishes the challenge of distilling these details to put forward his clients’ cases most effectively. He also has experience with the additional strategic complexities arising from multi-party opposition/appeal cases (both defensive and offensive) and portfolios of related oppositions, including UK High Court multi-patent litigation with parallel EPO opposition and appeal proceedings.

Henry joined Carpmaels in 2013 and qualified as a UK and European patent attorney in 2017, having previously been awarded the Bill Caro prize for achieving the highest overall mark in the Queen Mary Certificate for Intellectual Property and the GSK prize for the highest mark in the patent exams of the Certificate for IP. He also won a BD immunology research award during his postdoctoral research.
