Carpmaels & Ransford is a world leader in its field and our clients are world leaders in theirs.
Together, we are at the forefront of developments and progress in areas such as biotechnology, chemistry and pharmaceuticals, electrical and mechanical engineering, electronics and software. Our continued high reputation depends upon our ability to identify the potential partners of the firm of tomorrow and for over 200 years we have recruited the finest talent of each generation to join us on our journey.
Our clients are leaders in their fields, working at the cutting-edge of their industry. They expect the best from us and trust us to deliver for them. That’s why we invest not only in your professional development, but also your commercial skills and business acumen. From day one you will be learning about our clients’ businesses. You’ll find that the journey is enjoyable when you are travelling with the right equipment and companions.
Our people are highly educated, energetic and enthusiastic about the work they do. Many are leaders in the profession and have achieved recognition for their contribution above and beyond their day jobs. They know the value of a diverse workplace where people are encouraged to think for themselves. And there is plenty of time for maintaining outside interests and family life. We work hard but we are not slaves to the office.
We think it’s important that our technical assistants work for several partners, not just one, enabling exposure to the breadth of talent across the firm and to different working styles and personalities. We expect you to contribute and perform, but not without investment on our part, whether through our formal training programme, team learning sessions or one-to-one mentoring.

Holborn is a vibrant work environment with plenty of shops and eating places and some of London’s most beautiful squares right on the doorstep
We take advantage of this great location to nip out for informal lunches or join up together for a drink after work. We also have an in-house café with an adjoining terrace, providing an easy meeting point for lunch and informal meetings. New Year and Summer parties are regular features on our social calendar.
With energy to burn, we are regular participants in inter-firm sports tournaments and we also field a large contingent of runners in the Standard Chartered Great City Race each year, plus many individual efforts such as the London to Brighton bike ride, the Three Peaks Challenge and a marathon here and there. We also have plenty of music enthusiasts, from drummers and guitarists, to heavy-metal enthusiasts, orchestral performers and Glastonbury fanatics.
