Emma Rudge

Technical Assistant

Emma joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2021 as a Trainee Patent Attorney in the Chemistry team, having already gained considerable experience of the world of IP from a summer internship at the firm and in the patents department of Novartis Pharma AG. Prior to this, Emma graduated from the University of Cambridge with first class BA and MSci degrees in Natural Sciences, specialising in Chemistry. In her final year, she was awarded several prizes for achieving top marks in her examinations, including the departmental prize for distinction in Biological Chemistry.

Emma focused on medicinal chemistry for her final year research project, which involved synthesising a prodrug based on a thiamine monophosphate analogue and evaluating its potential as an antimicrobial agent. During this time, she also authored a literature review examining the state of the art in the field of pyrophosphate and bisphosphonate prodrugs.

Outside of work Emma likes to keep active through triathlons, weight training and yoga. She also enjoys eating out and puzzling over crosswords.
