Carpmaels & Ransford hosts event with Jonathan’s Voice

For International Men’s Day, Carpmaels & Ransford hosted an event with Graham McCartney of Jonathan’s Voice on how to improve and support mental health in the workplace, and what we can do to look after ourselves and each other.

Jonathan’s Voice is a charity set up in memory of Graham’s son, Jonathan McCartney, a patent attorney who tragically took his own life without warning in 2017.

Jonathan’s Voice regularly partners with CIPA, IP Inclusive and other organisations with the aim of reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues and supporting the development of better mental health and wellbeing practices in the workplace.

Earlier in the year, Carpmaels & Ransford announced its first cohort of Mental Health First Aiders who have been trained to recognise and support colleagues with mental health struggles. The firm also marked Mental Health Awareness Week with a series of events including a forest bathing experience and a workshop with a positive psychology expert on adversity and building resilience.

Camilla Balleny, Lead Partner for Diversity & Inclusion at Carpmaels & Ransford said:

“Mental health is a key focus of International Men’s Day and so we were really pleased to be able to host an event with Jonathan’s Voice. Graham’s insights will be invaluable in helping us to promote wellbeing at the firm and build on the work being done by our Mental Health First Aiders.”
