Adam joined the Engineering and Technology team at Carpmaels & Ransford in 2017, having obtained a first-class Masters degree in General Engineering from the University of Durham. He specialised in Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics, undertaking complex technical projects in both fields.
Adam led a group project to design an automated grounds-keeping robot with interchangeable cutting, painting, and soil treatment modules. The robot was coded to be fully automated, had a custom gearbox, and was solar powered. Adam’s final year project involved designing and testing a commercially viable Blended Wing Body Aircraft to determine its static and dynamic stability in varied flight conditions. The eighty metre wingspan aircraft was powered by a distributed propulsion system and used rear-mounted control surfaces to aid stability.
When not in the office Adam enjoys watching and playing as much sport as possible, usually hockey and tennis, and is a PADI certified diver.
