Ashrafur Rahman

Technical Assistant

Ashrafur joined the Life Sciences group at Carpmaels & Ransford in 2021. He has a degree in Cell and Molecular Biology and a PhD in Bioscience from the University of Warwick. Ashrafur’s PhD thesis focussed on understanding the process of selective autophagy in Drosophila melanogaster. Using quantitative proteomics to identify a panel of proteins selectively degraded through autophagy, Ashrafur’s study lead to the identification of a novel autophagy receptor involved in the turnover of the golgi apparatus in Drosophila.

In his spare time, Ashrafur enjoys playing chess, weightlifting and walking.
