Bethany Watkins
Technical Assistant
Beth joined the Chemistry team at Carpmaels & Ransford in September 2023 as a Trainee Patent Attorney. She graduated with a first class integrated Master’s degree in Chemistry from Merton College, Oxford and received the runner-up Physical and Theoretical Thesis Prize for her final year research.
In her final year, Beth investigated the charge-asymmetric attraction between like-charged microspheres in colloidal suspensions, in continuation of a prior summer research project. In particular, she explored the role of the interfacial solvent in this phenomenon by altering the solvent identity and observing the impact of osmolyte additives on clustering systems.
Outside of the office, Beth enjoys game nights with friends, playing the piano and watching golf and rugby. She can often be found dogsitting and hand-feeding ducks and squirrels.
