Chantal joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2018 as Trainee Patent Attorney working in both the Chemistry & Materials and the Life Sciences groups. She is involved in cases covering a wide range of subject-matter from pet food to materials, and simple medical devices to pharmaceutical compositions. She mainly assists with European prosecution matters, but her involvement in European oppositions is growing and she is also taking on more SPC-related projects.
Before joining the firm, Chantal graduated from Imperial College London with first class honours in Chemistry. During her degree, she spent a year in Switzerland at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where she completed her final year project. Chantal’s project looked into the development of peptide inhibitors for tissue kallikreins. This was achieved through a combination of phage display and protein synthesis, whereby potential inhibitors were identified, synthesised, then tested in vitro to determine their binding affinities to the target kallikreins.
Outside of work, if not out and about cycling, running or sailing, Chantal can usually be found in the kitchen baking sourdough bread.
