Chantal Whitfield
Associate
Chantal joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2018 as part of the Chemistry group. Her work relates to a variety of subject-matter including NCEs, medical uses and formulations, as well as consumer products and simple medical devices. Chantal mainly focuses on European prosecution and opposition matters but has also worked with the firm’s Dispute Resolution team to prepare for litigation proceedings.
Before joining the firm, Chantal graduated from Imperial College London with first class honours in Chemistry. During her degree, she spent a year in Switzerland at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, where she completed her final year project. Chantal’s project looked into the development of peptide inhibitors for tissue kallikreins. This was achieved through a combination of phage display and protein synthesis, whereby potential inhibitors were identified, synthesised, then tested in vitro to determine their binding affinities to the target kallikreins.
Outside of work, Chantal is often found sailing or skiing, depending on the time of year, or simply enjoying the great outdoors.
