Charlotte Malley

Associate

Charlotte is a member of the Chemistry group, having built up a wealth of experience spanning a wide range of subject-matter from medical devices to pharmaceuticals. She has particular expertise in the prosecution of challenging patent applications before the European Patent Office, reliably finding the best strategy to overcome complex objections and carry them through to grant. Charlotte has a detailed understanding of the considerations involved in the management of intellectual property rights, having handled numerous portfolios of patent applications covering approved products. She is also experienced in opposition proceedings and has been involved in the successful defence of patents ranging from drug delivery systems to dosage forms.

Before joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Charlotte graduated from the University of Cambridge with a first class BA (hons) degree and an MSci in Natural Sciences, specialising in Chemistry. Whilst at Cambridge, Charlotte was awarded both a St Catharine’s college scholarship and a Skerne scholarship for outstanding undergraduate examination performance. She is also fluent in French, having received Distinction in an advanced scientific language course in the third year of her degree.

Outside the office, Charlotte enjoys all forms of sport, particularly football, for which she was awarded a Blue at Cambridge University, and she is often found engaging her competitive spirit on the five a side pitch or the squash court. She also enjoys travelling to practice her language skills and finding any excuse to sample food that she hasn’t cooked herself.
