Elizabeth Taylor
Associate

Elizabeth is a solicitor in the Dispute Resolution team with a primary focus on life sciences patent litigation. She has experience of litigation in the High Court, as well as the coordination of complex multi-jurisdictional disputes across Europe and the US, on cases involving biologics, vaccines and small molecules. Elizabeth also has experience of UPC proceedings (including working on the high-profile dispute between Sanofi / Regeneron and Amgen), which has involved drafting legal and technical arguments and also considering litigation strategy, forum choice and UPC-specific procedural requirements. Through her work on these matters, she has worked on many aspects of patent litigation including validity and infringement issues, UPC Rules of Procedure, preliminary injunctions, stay of proceedings, issue estoppel, disclosure (including in Europe and US 1782 proceedings) and the intersection of patent law and competition law. She has also worked on matters relating to the validity and infringement of SPCs.
Elizabeth has a background in the biological sciences. She studied Natural Sciences at the University of Cambridge, followed by a masters in neuroscience at the University of Oxford. Before joining Carpmaels in 2023, Elizabeth spent five years at a Magic Circle firm. During that time, she was seconded to DeepMind Technologies (now Google DeepMind) for six months where she worked on a wide range of commercial and IP matters relating to AI technology.
Outside work, Elizabeth has a keen interest in music and loves playing the piano. She also enjoys gardening and walking her golden retriever.
