Fergus joined Carpmaels & Ransford in September 2014 as a trainee patent attorney from another London-based intellectual property firm. He is a member of the Life Sciences practice group, with a particular interest in small-molecule pharmaceuticals. Fergus graduated from the University of Oxford in 2012 with a first-class degree in Chemistry. His final year research project focussed on the synthesis of novel mechanically interlocked molecular structures and the investigation of their anion recognition properties, with his work forming the basis of a peer-reviewed journal article. In recognition of his consistently high academic achievements, Fergus was awarded a Scholarship by New College. He also obtained a distinction in the Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from Queen Mary, University of London.
Outside of the office, Fergus enjoys sport, in particular football, cricket and skiing, and will gladly play for any team that will take him.
