George Beaumont

Associate

George is an associate in the Chemistry team at Carpmaels & Ransford. He has experience with a wide range of subject matter, including pharmaceuticals, advanced materials, and industrial chemistry. Within the pharmaceutical sector, George has handled patents relating to high-profile drugs, advising on European prosecution, opposition, and appeal proceedings, as well as managing global patent portfolios.

Since joining Carpmaels & Ransford in 2018, George has gained experience in contentious and strategic patent work. He enjoys finding creative approaches to overcome complex objections and defending patents in high-stakes opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office.

Before starting his career in intellectual property, George graduated from Jesus College, University of Oxford, with a first class degree in Chemistry. His Master’s year project focussed on developing novel Group 5 transition metal complexes and their potential applications in catalysis and small molecule reactivity. He also pursued advanced studies in heterocyclic pharmaceutical chemistry. As an undergraduate, he received awards for examination results, including an academic scholarship.

When he’s not working, George can often be found trying to keep up with a gym class or taking on a spirited game of squash. He’s always keen for a musical theatre trip and takes every opportunity to travel to escape the British weather and practice his language skills.
