Grace La Piccirella

Technical Assistant

Grace joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2022 as a Trainee Patent Attorney in the Life Sciences team. She graduated from the University of East Anglia with first class honours with distinction in Natural Sciences. During her studies, Grace completed a Year in Industry at Abcam, where she gained valuable experience working with various antibodies and protein research tools.

Before pursuing a career in patent law, Grace spent three years as a high school science teacher, training at the University of Warwick before becoming Head of KS5 Science at a comprehensive school in Warwickshire.

Grace holds a Master’s degree in Cancer Immunology and Biotechnology from the University of Nottingham, where she earned a distinction and an award for ranking first in her cohort. Her research project focused on utilizing p38 inhibitors to increase the migration of myeloid dendritic cells in cancer vaccines. Grace’s expertise extends to a comprehensive understanding of immunotherapies including mRNA vaccines, CAR-T cells, antibody therapies, and immune checkpoint inhibitors.

Outside of work, Grace enjoys traveling and outdoor activities, such as hiking and kayaking. She is a keen runner, having completed two marathons. She is always looking for new hobbies, the latest being learning Italian and playing the drums.
