Associate

Jo works in the Life Sciences team, specialising in biotechnological inventions such as antibody technologies, nucleic acid therapeutics, vaccines, and diagnostic assays. Jo has experience of global patent prosecution as well as EPO oppositions and freedom-to-operate projects.

Jo has an undergraduate degree in Microbiology and Virology and a PhD in Molecular Virology. Her doctoral research focussed on elucidating the mechanism by which HIV-1 enters the nuclei of host cells whilst evading detection by the innate immune system. She also worked as part of an interdisciplinary team developing small molecules to expose the virus to the immune system. Jo qualified as a Chartered UK patent attorney and a European patent attorney in 2019.

In her spare time, Jo enjoys painting and visiting art galleries. She is also a self-confessed “foodie” and enjoys sampling food and wine from around the world.
