Kirwin Lee
Associate
As part of the Engineering and Tech team, Kirwin specialises in the preparation and prosecution of UK and European patent applications across an array of cutting-edge technologies, including cybersecurity, artificial intelligence and machine learning, medical imaging technologies, robotic process automation, and digital finance.
Before joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Kirwin gained extensive experience at two other leading UK IP firms, where she was responsible for managing complex, high-value international patent portfolios for a broad spectrum of clients, including major players in telecommunications, consumer electronics, healthcare innovations, and aerospace engineering. Her role involves closely collaborating with inventors to identify patentable innovations, ensuring the strategic development of portfolios, and aligning patent protection with clients’ commercial objectives. In addition to patent prosecution, she routinely advises on matters such as due diligence, validity opinions, and freedom to operate analyses, with a particular focus on emerging industries.
Kirwin is recognised for her ability to provide strategic counsel to a diverse range of clients, ranging from start-ups to global corporations and academic institutions. Her international experience is further enriched by her fluency in Mandarin and Cantonese, allowing her to navigate the evolving IP landscape in Asia. Kirwin has also contributed to numerous articles on IP practice and court decisions in Asia and has shared her expertise as a speaker at international IP conferences, including those held in China.
Outside of work, Kirwin enjoys travelling and painting, with particular interest in abstract art.
