Laura is part of the Engineering and Tech teams at Carpmaels & Ransford. Laura’s primary focus is in software and computer-implemented inventions, including machine learning applications, cloud computing, and fintech. She is involved with a range of tech clients, from early tech start ups to tech unicorns. Her work for these clients includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
Laura’s other key technical areas are telecommunications, where she has worked on standard essential patents, and medical devices, particularly electroceuticals.
Laura holds a degree in Engineering Science from the University of Oxford, where she earned a University College exhibition for academic achievement. Laura subsequently moved to the University of Warwick for an industrially sponsored PhD in Telecommunications. Her research focused on the adaptation of wireless optical communication systems for underwater environments.
Outside of work Laura is a video game enthusiast, following e-sports and participating in tournaments when time permits.
