Laura Mikkelsen

Laura joined the Dispute Resolution team as an associate at the beginning of 2024. She is New Zealand qualified and prior to joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Laura trained at a leading New Zealand law firm where she gained experience advising multinational clients on their global brand protection and enforcement strategy as well as on the regulation and commercialisation of pharmaceuticals, clinical trials, and medical devices.
Since joining Carpmaels & Ransford, Laura has enjoyed working on patent litigation cases in the Unified Patent Court and the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court in the UK and assisting with work on pan-European litigation coordination projects. She is currently working towards completing the Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice at the University of Oxford and is particularly interested in intellectual property rights relevant to the health and life sciences sector.
Laura holds a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Science (majoring in genetics) from the University of Otago, where she spent her weekends working at the local pharmacy and driving to the nearest ski fields with friends.
In her spare time, Laura enjoys reading, running, and yoga. She has recently learned to knit.
