Lileth Rees

Associate

Lileth joined the Biotechnology group at Carpmaels & Ransford in 2017. Since then, she has gained patent experience in a variety of subject-matter, including therapeutic antibodies, protein formulations, antisense compounds, gene editing technology, vaccines, CAR-T therapy and diagnostic methods. Lileth is particularly involved in European and global prosecution of patent applications, including co-ordinating prosecution strategies between multiple patent families. She frequently works on EPO oppositions at both first instance and appeal stage, and has experience in SPC prosecution.

Before starting her career at Carpmaels, Lileth graduated from Imperial College London with first class honours in Biochemistry. During her degree, Lileth specialised in structural biology, molecular biology, immunology, biophysics and industrial protein biotechnology. Her final year research project focused on glycoprotein crystallography, in which she carried out DNA mutagenesis to optimise the crystallisation propensity of a neurodevelopmental protein.

In her spare time, Lileth is keen on feeding her friends and family with her culinary successes (and sometimes failures) and enjoys seeking out new restaurants in London. She loves to put on her dancing shoes (especially her tap shoes) when she can. She also enjoys playing very average tennis and being an over-enthusiastic spectator of the sport.
