Maushami Kabra

Legal Support

Maushami is a paralegal in Carpmaels & Ransford’s Transactions Group. Her practice includes all aspects of recordal work including: recordal of assignments, preparing official filings and applications to the UKIPO, EPO and WIPO to record changes to applicant details, and working with local partners to execute recordals worldwide.

Maushami’s educational background is in chemistry, she graduated with an MSc from Kings College London having completed her research dissertation which involved investigating the Diels-Alder Cycloadditions of 2(H)-1,4-Oxazin-2-ones as a method towards synthesising heavily substituted azasugars. She then started her career as a Research Chemist at a global pharmaceutical company where she conducted synthesis and optimisation of novel drug molecules for respiratory disease targets which included cystic fibrosis and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.

Working in the pharmaceutical industry triggered her interest in patents and after an adventurous year of travelling and volunteering abroad, first in Geneva, Switzerland and then Nairobi, Kenya, she then pursued a Post-Graduate Certificate in Intellectual Property by part-time distance learning.

Maushami completed her studies alongside an in-house position at an international market research agency where she was responsible for assisting with the review and amendment of commercial agreements, looked after the trade mark portfolio and conducted internal audits for IT security and data protection matters.

Outside of work Maushami enjoys all aspects of performing arts from ballet to classical Indian Bharatanatyam – having pursued both dance forms in her spare time. She also enjoys experimenting with recipes and takes the opportunity to host a party and entertain a crowd with the delights of her cooking.
