Sarah Isherwood

Associate

Sarah qualified as a UK and European patent attorney in 2021 and is part of the Biotechnology team. She has experience with a variety of subject-matters including nucleic acid-based therapeutics, and CAR-T cell therapies. Sarah handles the prosecution and opposition of European patents and also has significant experience in managing the prosecution of large, global patent portfolios. Her detailed knowledge of national legislation allows her to provide valuable advice on global prosecution strategies, tailored to each client’s needs, ensuring maximum patent protection.

Sarah joined Carpmaels & Ransford as a trainee patent attorney in 2017 having graduated from the University of Manchester with a first class degree in Neuroscience. Following a successful industry placement at Boehringer Ingelheim, Sarah went on to pursue a PhD, in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim, in Cognitive and Behavioural Neuropharmacology at the University of Cambridge. Sarah’s research published in several, peer-reviewed neuroscience journals and fuelled her interest in pursuing a career in intellectual property.

Outside of the office, Sarah is a keen netball player, having played for the University of Manchester and Hughes Hall whilst at Cambridge.
