Susan Howat

Susan joined Carpmaels & Ransford in 2016 as a Trainee Patent Attorney. She graduated from Durham University with a first class masters degree in Natural Sciences (joint honours Biology and Chemistry). Following graduation, Susan moved to the University of Edinburgh where she completed an industrially-sponsored PhD in plant biotechnology and medicinal natural products. Her research focused on improving the production of the anti-cancer drug paclitaxel in plant cell culture, by identifying key transcriptional regulators after the addition of the stress hormone methyl jasmonate.

Outside the office, Susan is a keen rock climber, cyclist and runner.
